Centrioles in Intrafusal Muscle Fibers
Centrioles are generally considered to be involved in cell division and are also related to the differentiation of cilia and flagella . Most skeletal muscle contains stretch receptors called muscle spindles consisting of a bundle of small (intrafusal) muscle fibers which are innervated by both sensory and motor nerves . The fine structure of muscle spindles in a variety of species from amphibia...
متن کاملFine Structure of Rat Intrafusal Muscle Fibers
An ultrastructural study has been undertaken on the equatorial (sensory) region of the rat muscle spindle. Two kinds of intrafusal muscle fibers, a nuclear bag fiber and a nuclear chain fiber, have been identified in this region on the basis of fiber diameter, nuclear disposition, and M-band appearance. The large-diameter nuclear bag fiber contains an aggregation of tightly packed vesicular nuc...
متن کاملA reexamination of multiaxonal nerve endings innervating intrafusal muscle fibers of the Chinese hamster.
The multiaxonal nerve endings, consisting of a bundle of axons, were reexamined in the muscle spindles of the adult Chinese hamster. In addition to the frequent occurrence of the multiaxonal endings innervating the nuclear bag fibers in the equatorial region (Desaki and Uehara, 1988), these endings were also occasionally distributed not only in the equatorial region of the nuclear chain fibers,...
متن کامل[Decreased neurotrophin-3 expression of intrafusal muscle fibers in rat soleus muscles under simulated weightlessness].
The present study aimed to study the changes of neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) expression of intrafusal muscle fibers in rat soleus muscles under simulated weightlessness. The tail-suspension (SUS) rat model was used to simulate weightlessness. Forty mature female Sprague-Dawley rats were randomly assigned to ambulatory control (CON), 3-day SUS, 7-day SUS, 14-day SUS and 21-day SUS groups. Immunohistoch...
متن کاملStretch-induced contraction of intrafusal muscle in cat muscle spindle.
Measurements of tension, stiffness, and sarcomere length of intrafusal muscle during ramp stretch of isolated muscle spindles have revealed a stretch-induced contraction of the bag1 fiber. This behavior can account for the very high sensitivity of primary endings to stretch as well as the enhanced sensitivity evoked by dynamic fusimotor stimulation.
